The top priority for supporting the health and wellness of individuals with disabilities in our region is workforce development.
Participants in the Community Health Conversation overwhelmingly agree that the majority of our region’s opportunity lies in workforce development. A major priority identified is for community organizations to partner more with high schools and colleges to support students gaining exposure and supporting interest in human services fields, especially those that support individuals with disabilities. Funding, coaching, mentoring, culture shift, tuition reimbursement and pipeline delays were all discussed.
